I’m not doing an in-depth Food for Content Thought blog this week (although watch this space), but wanted to highlight a few companies who are doing some regular, cool things with imagery. And coincidentally they both happen to come from my home town of Wellington, so it’s not like I can go past them really.

I know, I know imagery doesn’t exactly scream copy or words but they both actually incorporate their imagery well with their post copy. Visual plays such a big part in content anyway. So it’s win-win all round.

Kapiti

Kapiti produce awesome cheese and ice cream – give me Kikorangi any day of the year and you may just find me in the corner in a cheese coma in no time. In fact I defy you to not like their products. But they are also putting out some really cool images, in combination with great copy, on Facebook that are drawing my attention and disrupting the noise in my news feed for sure.

I mean sure they have some great products to start from, so making them look good isn’t that hard. But they are also choosing to compose their imagery and accompanying copy well and their font choice is also very alluring. It’s simple, modern and effective.

The images that I really like are their combo style photos where they piece together their product with something else, be it a classic ‘scene’ or dish. It obviously highlights the product well, but goes beyond on that and draws the viewer into their setting.

Their website is also very appealing thanks to dominant imagery, however I would love them to take it a step further than just the likes of recipes and go forth into the blogging world. They could easily post regular content, letting customers see more of their world and of course introduce video as well.

Xero

Xero are pretty well known in New Zealand now, and overseas for that matter. And they do a heap of cool things with social media, video content etc. But for some reason there are these little images they post every now and again that I really enjoy. They are super simple, only use their two core colours but they really drive the key messages home about why Xero should be your choice for accounting software. Occasionally they also incorporate customer quotes, and we all know how much word of mouth adds to a company’s credibility and trust factor.

I look forward to seeing what else these guys produce and who comes onto the scene with more exciting imagery.
